Chris Gregg, Senior Minister
Chris has been serving as our Senior Minister since June 2011. Chris was our Student Minister for 23 years before becoming our Senior Minister. He has a passion for God’s church and believes the Church is the hope of the world. He loves people, preaching, ministry and laughter. He was born a Hoosier. He has been married for over 3 decades and has grown children and grandchildren. He loves all things outdoors. He is a graduate of Johnson University and has a Masters in Counseling from Indiana State University.
CJ Muston, Student Minister
CJ has been the student minister at FCC since April 23, 2012. He has a passion for helping students engage with Jesus, and loves being a part of FCC, the church staff, and town of Brazil. CJ grew up in Plainfield, IN and graduated from Cincinnati Christian University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Youth Ministry and a Master’s Degree in Pastoral Counseling.
If you spend much time around CJ you will find him talking about his wife and kids. He has been married to Kirston since 2007 and they have 4 children; Brinkley, Clark, Tate, and Louna. “I love being a husband and a daddy. They make me laugh, bring me energy, and light up my life!” When CJ and Kirston aren’t doing ministry together, they enjoy spending time as a family; gardening and canning; and raising chickens, turkeys, and their one goose (named Gus).
The Muston’s want to change the town of Brazil with the love of Christ by intentionally investing in students and families!
Mark Grayless, Connection & Pastoral Care Minister
Mark Grayless is a Brazil native that is in his fortieth year of ministry. He grew up at First Christian Church, and in his late teens attended Berea while singing with the “New Creations” band. While At Berea he accepted the call to enter ministry and attended Lincoln Christian College, and during that time served as a part time youth minister here. Mark has served four churches through the years, Second Christian Church, Stateline Christian Church and recently completed twenty six years with Union Christian Church. He now serves at First Christian as our Pastoral Care and Connections Minister.
Jon Rhoades, Children's Minister
Jay Crowder, Church Administrator
Jay is originally from Hillham, Indiana and moved to Brazil in 2002. He is a graduate of Indiana State University, Indiana Wesleyan University and has a background in manufacturing and finance. In his role as administrator he oversees the business and operational affairs of FCC. Jay and his wife Cindy have been members of First Christian since 2003. Their daughter Julia is currently a student at Cornerstone Christian Academy.
Jeannie Price, Worship Arts Director/Office Manager
Jeannie and her husband, Fred, were baptized in January 1974 and have been active members of FCC ever since. Jeannie joined the FCC staff in October, 1989. She is a wife, mother of 2 grown children, grandmother to 6 children, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Her soul expresses itself through music! “It is such a joy to hear the congregation singing from their hearts – all together – just like one big choir. This is just a glimpse of what heaven will be like! My prayer every service is that the words that are sung on Sunday will become the prayers in our hearts on Monday.”
Mercedes Hall, Wee Kidz Director/Kids Hope USA
Mercedes is originally from Owen County. She moved her with her husband and two little girls when her husband became a Trooper with the Indiana State Police and was stationed in Clay County. She has been a member of First Christian Church since January 2015. Her favorite part of working here at FCC is being able to gain lifelong relationships with parents and kids that come to Weekidz Sunday Services. She hopes to make parents feel at home and at ease about leaving their kids in her and her volunteers care for a few hours on Sunday. Her favorite activities outside of church are watching movies, playing board games, and visiting parks with her family. Speaking of movies...That's where Mercedes got her name! The movie "License to Drive" that came out in the 80's has a character named Mercedes. If you want a good laugh take some time to watch "License to Drive" and let Mercedes know what you thought.
Mary Marburger, Assimilation Assistant
Mary is a native of Clay County and began attending First Christian Church when she was in college. She is married to Lee and a retired elementary school teacher. She loves spending time with friends, family, and her special four-footed friends--Max and Gib, reading, basket-making, and photography.
Carrie Somheil, Office Assistant/Financial Secretary
Carrie Somheil has been on staff since 2011. She works as the office secretary, but also as the finance secretary, assisting the administrator in the church finances, and handling payroll and offering. She's been married to Brian since 2001. They have two kids, Elise, born in 2005, and Chase, born in 2010.
Peggy Mikles, Daycare Director
Peggy is originally from Livonia Michigan. She graduated from Kentucky Christian University in 1991 with her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Bible. She is married to David Mikles and has 3 kids. She is involved with the Student Ministry, the Welcome Cafe, and serves with the elders' wives. She is commited to providing exceptional daycare and sharing the love of Jesus with all of the children.
Linda Somheil, Cornerstone Christian Academy Principal
Linda has been a member of FCC since her baptism in November of 1972. She began teaching Kindergarten at CCA in the fall of 1985, the year the school first opened. She taught a 3rd, 4th, 5th grade split, 1st grade, and a 1st, 2nd grade split before becoming principal in 1995.
She and her husband Eric have three married sons and five grandchildren. Linda enjoys baking and spending time with her family.
Larry Johnson, Facilities Manager
A newcomer to the Brazil area, he and his wife Wanda have been attending FCC since January of 2013. He graduated from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville, Illinois. Following the Lord’s ministry leading to Indiana, he earned a Master of Divinity from Chapman Seminary and was ordained as minister in 1992. He pastored several General Baptist churches in Southern Indiana and Indianapolis and continues to use his skills in service for the Lord and his compassion for people in many of life’s challenges.
Larry and Wanda have been married 40+ years and are the proud parents of Ben (Andrea) Johnson and Melissa (Clay) Haviland; grandparents of 3 grandsons and one granddaughter.
Christina Scully, Custodian
Christina is our hardworking custodian. She is originally from Kokomo. She's married to Nick, whom she met in college. They have two children, Bradyn and Lilah. They started attending FCC in 2014, and joined shortly after. In her off time, Christina is a crafter, a homeschool mom, and practices tae kwon do with her son. She enjoys working with the sewing ministry and singing in the choir.
